Meet the Fido Skilled Volunteering team

Fido Skilled Volunteering is a service offered by The Centre for Volunteering, the peak body in NSW promoting and supporting volunteering and community participation. The Centre for Volunteering includes Volunteering NSW - our service-delivery arm, and the School of Volunteer Management, a registered training organisation.

Denis Porter, Liaison Officer
Denis Porter is responsible for the day-to-day running of Fido Skilled Volunteering. He:

  • Liaises with non-for-profit organisations regarding their volunteer jobs
  • Liaises with The Centre's Volunteer Referral Service about the current skilled and professional vacancies being handled by the service, some of which are included in the Fido advertisements each week
  • Prepares and edits the Fido advertisements
  • Submits Fido to the Sydney Morning Herald and The Centre's online team
  • Reports on the Fido Skilled Volunteering service to The Centre's management and Board

In addition to his role with Fido, Denis sits on the steering committee of The Centre's annual NSW Volunteer of the Year Award.

Kristin Romanis, Online Manager and Fido Manager
Kristin Romanis manage's The Centre for Volunteering's online presence (websites, e-newsletters, Facebook, Flickr etc). Prior to this Kristin was manager of The Centre's Communications and Media department and has worked for The Centre for over 6.5 years. She is responsible for Fido Skilled Volunteering weekly e-bulletin and keeping the Fido Skilled Volunteering website up-to-date. 

Fido Skilled Volunteering is managed by Kristin Romanis, Online Manager with assistance from Odessa O'Brien, Volunteer Services Manager.

Tim Hardy, Advisor
Tim Hardy, co-president of Fido Fido Skilled Volunteering (originally Friends In Deed Organisation) from 1999–2005 and current Director Client Relations of Enrich Australia, has made himself available to The Centre's new Fido Skilled Volunteering Team to answer any queries that arise to ensure continuity of service.
